Summer Arrives Early at Tropicana: Fresh Produce Floods the Aisles Across All Five Stores

From sweet North Carolina strawberries to crates of Caribbean mangos, the season's first heat wave has the produce team working overtime to keep shelves full.

In Season — Strawberries, peppers, avocados, and tomatillos take center stage across Tropicana's produce departments this month.

Summer doesn't wait, and neither do we. This week our produce departments across all five North Carolina locations received their largest shipment of the season — including local berries, fresh herbs, and a wide selection of international tropicals you won't find anywhere else.

Customers walking into the Durham store on Monday morning were greeted by a wall of color: ruby strawberries from local growers, deep red bell peppers, golden mangos, and a fresh stack of yellow plantains. "It feels like a mercado in here," said one shopper from Raleigh who drives forty minutes to Tropicana every Saturday. "I find things I haven't seen since I left home."

The produce team has been preparing for the seasonal shift for weeks, working with regional and international suppliers to bring shoppers the variety they've come to expect. From sweet North Carolina blueberries to Caribbean papayas, the lineup leans into the foods that make every aisle feel a little more like home.

Look for weekly specials on seasonal favorites — strawberries, avocados, mangos, and watermelon — through the end of July. Stop by any of our locations to see what's fresh today.

Carnicería Announces New Cuts & Marinated Selections

Asadas, adobadas, and arracheras — there's something new behind every counter.

Customers have been asking for it, and the carnicería team listened. This month, every Tropicana location is rolling out an expanded selection of in-house marinated cuts: carne asada, pollo adobado, arrachera, and a new chile-lime pork that's already drawing a crowd.

"We've been testing recipes with our butchers for a couple of months," said a member of the carnicería team. "Now it's time for the customers to tell us what they think."

The marinated cuts are available by the pound at the counter and packaged in family-size portions in the cooler. Looking for something specific? The butchers will cut it for you — thick or thin, always to order.

"Tropicana doesn't feel like a grocery store — it feels like walking into my grandma's pantry." — Customer, Greenville #3

Goldsboro Store Sponsors Little League Summer Season

The Goldsboro Tropicana is once again proud to sponsor a youth baseball team in the Wayne County Little League. Look for the Tropicana logo on the dugout fence and on a brand-new set of game jerseys throughout the summer.

"Supporting the kids who walk into our store every day with their families — that's what familia means," said the Goldsboro store manager.
